The Arizona Geriatric Education Center will support the training/retraining of faculty to provide instruction in Interprofessional team care of aging adults through a Faculty Scholars in Aging IP (FSAIP) Training Certificate Program. The five health professions that will participate in the educational offerings include: Nursing, Advanced Practice Nursing, Pharmacy, Medicine, Public Health, Psychology, Physician Assistant and Social Work. Overall goals of this program are to:
- Develop faculty with Interprofessional and discipline-specific geriatric competencies,
- Advance clinical practices specifically associated with positive health outcomes for older adults (improved Institute of Medicine triple aims: improving the experience of care, improving the health of populations, and reducing per capita costs of health care), and
- Champion the integration of geriatric principles and IP education and training into IP faculty coursework and clinical problems.
