The program is attended by incoming Chief Residents from both University and South Campus and includes 2 half day learning sessions, reception/dinner, and hotel accommodations. CRs and Faculty are encouraged to bring their families and are provided plenty of free-time for socializing. The program goals are to 1) teach aging issues for the hospitalized adult and 2) teach leadership and teaching skills. Additionally, an important part of the IP-CRIT program is the development of a Quality and Safety project in collaboration with other chief residents, residents, faculty and hospital quality and safety staff.
On one weekend each summer at a resort in Tucson, this training program joins incoming chief residents with nurses, pharmacists, social workers and others to learn the principals of clinical teaching and the importance of a working knowledge of geriatric care. Learning is paired with the importance of collaboration between and among disciplines/specialties as attendees are encouraged to bring their families and given free-time to get to know each other.
